Tim Ho Wan 添好運

IMG_4793

My dinner mate has kept telling me the last time she came here, the queue had closed when it was just 8 plus pm. Tim Ho Wan is the hole-in-the-wall eatery in Hong Kong that defied all odds to gain an entry in the Michelin guide. Since the queue is still and we both are free, let’s queue up. Although it looks long, but it moves quite fast. I think it takes me about 30 minutes to get a table.

While queuing, we are given the list to select the food.

IMG_4795

The dinning area is quite small and compact.

IMG_4796

Sauces available on the table for you to help yourself to.

IMG_4797

Barley Water ($2.00++)

It tastes not bad and not too sweet.

IMG_4802

Steam Egg Cake ($3.80++)

It is very soft, not too sweet. Light and spongy and kind of reminds me of Gula Melaka, although I wish for a stronger taste of it. We like it so much that my dinning mate orders another 2 more so than she can pack it. Please note there is no takeaway service available. Boxes will be given to you upon request, if you wish to pack the leftover.

IMG_4811

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork ($4.50++)

Order 2 of this as it is limited to 1 per person.

IMG_4814

Quite thin skin.

IMG_4799

Pan Fried Turnip Cake ($4.50++)

I feel that it is too soft.

IMG_4805

Vermicelli Roll with Pig’s Liver ($5.50++)

This is the most disappointing dish of all. The liver is overcooked and hard. The vermicelli roll has a velvety texture.

IMG_4815

Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake ($3.50++)

This is a very unique dessert. It tastes of Osmanthus flowers with a jelly like texture.

Total damages : $44.61
