Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant is a traditional Shanghai eatery located in the City God Temple precinct in the old Chinese section of the city. It was established in 1900. Nanxiang is a town near Shanghai where the xiaolong mantou was invented. The restaurant has more recently expanded internationally, with branches in South Korea and Japan. It is Shanghai’s most celebrated pork and crabmeat xiao long bao (steamed dumplings) eatery.
The outlet in Bugis has a distinctive décor that features the iconic ‘zhen long’ (bamboo baskets) used for steaming buns. Diners can enjoy the delectable tastes of Shanghai in a comfortable and modern Chinese atmosphere. In addition to an extensive selection of “xiao long bao”, Nanxiang boasts an extensive menu of over 60 tantalizing dishes. To preserve the culinary standards and authenticity of Nanxiang , veteran chefs from the original restaurant in shanghai are deployed here in Singapore!
