Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰

After the Singapore Garden Run, we have to give up our first choice of going to the flyer for dinner as it was raining heavily outside. Decided to go for Din Tai Fung for dinner. When given the queue number, was told the waiting is about 30 -45 minutes. Hi man, there is enough to walk to the other end of the shopping centre for a cup of bubble tea at Gong Cha and be back.

About 1 hour, then we finally got our table for 6 paxs.

Oriental Salad in Special Vinegar Dressing 小菜

A popular chilled starter with julienne seaweed, bean sprouts, spicy beancurd and rice vermicelli, luxuriantly tossed in a light tangy dressing redolent of the fragrance of sesame oil.

Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣汤

Sour, spicy and savoury notes, combined with a smooth, comforting texture, make this classic Chinese soup a perennial hit, stimulating the palate for dishes ahead.

Just the thing for a cold and wet night.

Fragrant Pork with Crushed Garlic 蒜泥白肉

A refreshing dish that is wonderfully light. Rolls of fresh pork wrapped around cucumber and steeped in a crushed garlic sauce with sesame and green onions.

One of my favourite, with garlicy taste.

Stir-fried Hong Kong Kailan with Special Sauce 三味芥兰

A healthy must-have complement to any meal, the kailan is expertly flash-fried with minimal oil and accented with aromatic slivers of garlic.

Simple but tasty dish.

Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs 虾仁蛋饭

An extremely popular dish, the ingredients are pared down to simple rice, shrimps, eggs, and spring onions, creating a taste of familiar comfort. Each plate is of a certain weight and minimal seasoning is used so that the natural fragrance of the eggs and spring onions shines through.

The type of rice used is short grain. Unique in Singapore.

The Star : Steamed Pork Dumplings 小笼包

Steamed pork dumplings or xiao long baos traditionally contain minced pork wrapped in a delicate dough skin, which is then pleated, twisted at the top and steamed. Din Tai Fung’s signature rendition consists of juicy meat filling wrapped in a melt-in-your-mouth skin with a minimum of 18 exquisite folds.

It does not taste as good as the ones I had in Taipei.

Fried Rice with Fried Pork Chop 排骨蛋饭

Similar to the Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs, except the shrimps is replaced with a piece of pork chop.
