In a group of 20 friends (divided into 4 cars), we to JB for dinner.
A friend has placed order in advance for us. (Please note that you have to order a day in advance, ‘cos certain dishes needed 8 hours to bake.)
We have the following dishes :
Oyster Rice, Pu Fo Shou, Begger Chicken, Sweet Potato Leaves in sambal, Kangkong, Country Fish, Tung Hoong, Home made Tofu, Begger Duck, Melon Soup ( for our table), Chang Sheng Pu Lao Soup ( for next table table), Fish Tail
The clay to cover the food with.
The hot oven to bake the food in. Feel like sauna.
We are eating outside someone’s private house with makeshift tables and chairs. The restaurant is between other private houses.
Achar to start with.
The food been carted out and break opened with a hammer.
Oyster Rice (freshly break opened from clay)
Pu Fo Shou (trotters) 浦佛 手(freshly break opened from clay)
Beggar Chicken 叫化 (freshly break opened from clay)
Herbs filled the inside of the chicken.
Vegetable – Sweet potato leaves in sambal.
Fish is deboned, minced and made into fish cakes. Looks like real fish.
Crispy on the outside, soft inside the beancurb.
Beggar Duck 乞丐鸭
Similar to the chicken, but tasted much better compared to chicken.
Herbs filling the inside of the duck.
It comes in a whole melon, cooked until very soft, that I could barely remove the cap of the melon.
Chang Sheng Pu Lao Soup
It is black chicken herbal soup with herbs like ginseng.
Total damages for 2 tables = RM 737
=> which worked out RM37 per person.
